My parents signed Karl up for a local 5k, Run for the Fallen. It was really sobering to honor the recent soldiers who have died in Afghanistan and Iraq, over 6,000. For each fallen soldier there was a flag with their name on it. The flags were placed in the ground and covered a mile on either side of this path you could walk that was part of the event and near the running finish line. Seeing all those flags and all those people made me incredibly grateful for my liberties.
The running side of things was awesome too! Karl ran and got 4th place overall and first in his age division. It was fun to see him run so well! I am very proud of him and that through all of his studies and craziness in school he is still able to take care of himself and do crazy good in a race at the spur of the moment (he was told about it last weekend). Yay Karl!
